But these flowers never gave them a child. Until his mother planted the stargazing lilly. She had handled the flower with special care. Singing to it every single day, gently stroking the leafs and covering it with a glass globe overnight, so no animal could harm the precious flower. Gave the stargazer lilly all the love she had.And one night, the first cry of a baby filled the forest. His parents were filled with joy and all happiness. They had their first child. A son. A strong son. He was beautiful and had big soft lavendar eyes. They named him Nix and gave him everything he could ever need. For the first two months of his life, Nix was the happiest he could ever be.But one single day changed the young boy’s life forever. His mother was just sitting at the front porch of their little cottage home, singing her song to her son, when her husband came storming out of the forest. “The hunters!”, His father screamed and grabbed his wife by the hand. “We have to go! They’re coming!” He said quickly. Sweat on his forehead and his whole body shaking. Deep in the forest they could hear the faerie hunters screaming. They could smell the fire and hear the dogs barking.His mother was in shock. Quickly they grabbed everything they needed. His mother held her son tight to her chest as they were running off. Leaving their home and everything they had behind to survive. Multiple days they were running through the forest. Always seeking some short breaks between trees and in caves. But at the same time they always heard the hunters. Sometimes louder sometimes more silent.The hunters always knew where they were hiding. After some days, they reached a small house at the edge of the forest. His mother was weak. Unable to carry her crying son any further. Her husband was rushing. Wanting to keep moving. But his wife couldn’t.“I can’t anymore…I’m to weak to carry him any further…”, she said while crying. In the distance they could hear the dogs again. So, his father made a choice, which would change Nix’s life forever. His father took the crying baby out of his wife’s arms. Letting her say goodbye to her child, before he placed the crying child at the front door of the little house. “You’ll have a better life, my Nix. We’re sorry…”, his father mumbled before he pressed the bell.Quickly taking his wife’s hand, they ran away…to a place no one would know.When the door opened an old lady stood there. Seeing the child she gasped, sticking her head out the door to check if there was someone. But she couldn’t see anyone. Picking up the little boy, she went inside when she heard the faerie hunters. Immediately she knew what was going on. This had happened to her a few times in her life. Faeries on the run had trusted her with their kids, and she had managed to raise them into beautiful human beings.Taking the child and immediately treating Nix like her own. She made sure the young boy was always happy and had whatever he needed. Raising him to be a polite, young man, Nix was still too young when his parents gave him to the old lady. He always thought she’s his biological mom. At first he didn’t even knew he was a faerie.When he was 15 years old, his mother told him the story how he came to her, as Nix was requesting more and more why he didn’t look like her and why he didn’t had a birth certificate, when he needed one to sign in for a new school in Seoul. She told him the whole story and also what race he was. She told him she made a dark witch put a spell on him to not let his wings grow. Nix was confused. He had believed to be a normal human being. Suddenly his whole life felt like a lie. Countless sleepless nights and days that felt like they were just rushing by, the faerie wasn’t sure what to feel.At some point, he felt the anger forming in him. He was angry at the woman who told him she was his mother for 15 years. And anger about himself for not noticing earlier. He wasn’t speaking to his “mother” for three days. How could she be so cruel to him? Hide his true self from him?Suddenly the old lady got sick. She just collapsed in her kitchen. Immediately Nix called and ambulance and they took her to the nearest hospital. Nix was staying by her side day and night. Making sure, she wasn’t alone. Cause she had tol him, this was her biggest fear. Nix had forgotten about everything that had happened. Just wanting to be by her side and help her to become healthy again.But the doctors had no hope. Her health status got worse over the days. And soon, the machines stopped beeping. Nix held her hand as she left this world.
After he returned home to collect his things, he found a letter in the old lady’s nightstand. It was a letter to him. Telling him the truth. The reason she let someone put this spell onto him. To protect him from the faerie hunters. She knew she was sick. But she wanted to carry on for as long as she could. For him. She had saved up some money for him, hiding in an old vase. For Nix to start a new life.Nix teared up when he read the letter. She was truly giving up her everything for him. Nix did as she wanted. He took the money and left the small village to Seoul. There, he was working multiple jobs to finance himself a little apartment, while going to school. He saved up some money to pay a light witch to take away the spell, which was laid onto him. Experiencing his wings for the first time of his life. Felling the magic running through his veins.After graduating and reaching adulthood, Nix was trying to find a job.
